A Slogan with History: The Story Behind "Save Natural Resources, Buy Antiques!"

In 1997, a simple yet powerful phrase was born: “Save Natural Resources, Buy Antiques!” What started as a casual conversation between nine-year-old Ciara Gaglio and her father, Frank Gaglio, founder of Barn Star Productions, quickly turned into a fundraising movement with a mission.

While traveling together and discussing environmental conservation, Ciara naturally voiced a thought that would later become a trademarked slogan and rallying cry for antique lovers and sustainability advocates alike. Her words captured an essential truth: buying antiques is the ultimate form of recycling—preserving history while reducing waste and protecting natural resources.

Inspired by her idea, Ciara worked on designing the original logo and launched a series of t-shirts to raise money for rainforest conservation efforts. The campaign was a success, and the shirts were sold at antique shows across the country, with proceeds benefiting ecosystem preservation projects in South America.

Now, over 25 years later, we’re bringing back this meaningful message through a new limited-edition collection of eco-friendly, organic cotton t-shirts and totes—not just as a nostalgic nod to its origins, but as a renewed commitment to sustainability in the modern world.

By wearing this collection, you're not only making a statement—you're spreading awareness about the environmental benefits of buying antiques and vintage goods.
